The Royal Umbrella Palace of Awadh: Chattar Manzil
Rising beside the Gomti River with its distinct gilded parasol finials, Chattar Manzil was begun by Nawab Ghazi-ud-Din Haider and completed by his son King Nasir-ud-Din Haider. Uniquely engineered with subterranean chambers (taikhanas) that met the water level of the Gomti, it remained cool even in the hottest summer months.
